Graupner (Gottlieb) is born in Germany.

Gottlieb Graupner becomes an oboist and plays under Joseph Haydn in London. He arrives in Boston in approximately 1797, and becomes the leading figure in bringing “modern” and non-secular music to Boston as a music performer, teacher, author and promoter. He dies in Boston in 1836.
